The narration flowing through the video reads a portion of Georges Perec's "The Sleeping Man". It goes on to read as follows: "Your existence continues to blur and descend like the worthlessness and emptiness of some existence pressed into a corner, your life reads as such, as if it no longer exists.” But is our life like that? There is nothing meaningless even in the tiniest fragments of life. Discarded scraps of tissue on the street, cracks flowing along the worn and dirty streets and walls, endured through that time and becoming a path for someone else to walk, forming a warm refuge, steadfastly existing there.
비디오 영상으로 흐르는 나레이션은 조르쥬 페렉의 ‘잠자는 남자’의 일부분을 읽어 내려간다. 너의 존재가 계속 흐려지고 무가치함과 그 허무함을 마치 구석에 처박힌 어떤 존재의 무가치함처럼 너의 인생 이 그러하다고, 더 이상 존재하지 않는 것처럼 읽어내려간다. 하지만 우리의 인생이 그러한가? 인생의 작은 자투리 같은 순간도 무의미 한 것이 없다. 길 위에 버려진 휴지조각들, 해지고 더러워진 길과 벽을 타고 흐르는 균열들도 그 시간을 버텼고 누군가에게는 걸을 수 있던 길이 되고 따뜻했던 보금자리를 이루며 그곳에 꿋꿋이 존재했으리라.
